The newest class of Minnesota Fightin' Vikings rookies are in the building this weekend for rookie mini-camp. Draft picks, undrafted free agents, and tryout players alike will try to climb the mountain of making the Vikings 53-man roster (remember, John Randle was a tryout/UDFA), in what could be the most competitive offseason in team history. The Minnesota Vikings' draft plans are a big talking point for fans right now as the 2016 version is less than a month away. GM Rick Spielman will have a lot of decisions to make behind-the-scenes, some will be crazy stories and scenarios that will never see the light of day. To shine a light on a few hypotheticals is our resident NFL Draft BOSS Luke Inman (@Luke_Spinman)! The scenarios are.......

Scenario 1: Myles Jack is the #1 player on your board. He's still available at #5 when David Caldwell of the Jacksonville Jaguars calls you up and says he wants the #23 overall pick plus your 2nd, 3rd and 5th 2016 picks and your 1st rounder in 2017. What say you?

Scenario 2: Laquon Treadwell, Josh Doctson, Corey Coleman, Andrew Billings, Jack Conklin, Taylor Decker are all off the board at 23 (as well as who you'd expect to be gone). You cannot trade back. Who do you take?

Scenario 3: Doctson is off the board, but Treadwell is available at 23. Offensive Coordinator Norv Turner has said unequivocally he does not want to work with Treadwell and prefers an offensive lineman. What do you do?

Scenario 4: Washington is on the clock at 21. Doctson is available and your sources say the Texans will grab him at 22 if available. Washington offers to swap picks if you include your 2nd, 5th, and Adrian Peterson. What do you do?

The NFL Combine kicks off this Friday in Indianapolis. All of the NFL GMs, scouts, executives, coaches, etc are descending on Lucas Oil Stadium (but really St. Elmo's) to scope out the next crop of NFL talent as the young men compete in events tangentially related to the game of American Football, all while wearing their skivvies.

Winning free agency is NOT the key to success (i.e. Washington in the 2000s, Tampa Bay two years ago), but it's still a lot of fun to see your favorite team pick up pieces that could help them next season. The season ended abruptly for the Minnesota Fightin' Vikings in (sadly) typical Minnesota Fightin' Viking fashion as Blair Walsh shanked the game-winning field goal out of bounds on the 18th tee. That was a less than ideal way for the Minnesota Fightin' Vikings to end the 2015 campaign. But let's not lose the forest through the trees, this season was a damn good year and this young football team is ahead of schedule with Mike Zimmer. We went 11-5, won a division title, and will be in the mix as legitimate Super Bowl contenders next season. Take a while to let this game marinate, but not all is lost. The Minnesota Fightin' Vikings are limping into Thursday's showdown with the 10-2 Arizona Cardinals in a game that most Purple supporters are dreading. After the 38-7 dismantling at the hands of the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, even the most fervent Purple Kool-Aid drinkers are anticipating an ass kicking on Thursday and us falling to 8-5. The Minnesota Fightin' Vikings got embarrassed by the Seattle Sea-Chicken Seahawks Sunday afternoon at The Bank 38-7. The final score was not indicative of how one-sided the game was as the Purple defense gave up 38 points and 433 yards of offense to Seahawks, while Teddy and the Vikings offense was shutout and only had 4 snaps on the Seattle half of the field. The Minnesota Fightin' Vikings grabbed a share of the NFC North lead with a rough and tumble 18-15 overtime win Sunday over the St. Louis Rams. That should be the headline, but it's not. All Vikings fans already hated defensive coordinator Gregg Williams. But now we somehow hate him with the fury of a thousand suns after something-called-Lamarcus Joyner threw his elbow into Teddy Bridgewater's face as the second-year quarterback was sliding. Us Vikings fans cannot separate the fact that we have history with Captain Bountygate, but I try not to dwell on that storyline as our 6-2 Vikes have a solid young team with a great leader in Mike Zimmer and may make some noise come playoff team. The Minnesota Fightin' Vikings held off the Kansas City Chiefs 16-10 Sunday afternoon at The Bank in a game that more resembled a rugby match if said match had bad officiating, sloppy play, and was nearly unwatchable. But other than that, the game was great! A win is a win in the NFL and we dive into the reasons for the elevation to 3-2 and why we damn near lost it all.

The Minnesota Fightin' Vikings (2-2) are off the bye week and are looking to get back to a winning record as we welcome in the suddenly faceless Kansas City Chiefs (1-4). With their superstar running back Jamaal Charles done for the season with a torn ACL, the Chiefs look to Charn... Charadr.... Running back C. West to help carry the load of a team that was already marginal on offense (even with Charles) and a usually solid defense that's suddenly tied for 30th in the NFL giving up 28.6 points per game.

This seems like a favorable matchup at home, but us Vikings fans have seen these easy games go very kaddywampus. Di Murphy (@DiMurphyMN) stops in to talk about how we hope the Purple don't mess this up as we try to get win numero tres of the 2015 season.
